Yeah same I just meant in the context of Reddit. I'm going to do myself some good and hide that sub for now.

Just a warning: I posed the question to the dating over 40 sub if any women would date a guy who has been separated for a year - but legal petition not finalized yet. And very specifically for casual, occasional hang-outs - not for seeking LTR. And I was flamed to death. I mean none of the reasons the commenter above mentioned. Just because I'm social and healthy and fun and it's funner to do things with someone else and maybe make a new friend. So many "hard pass" comments. So many saying not l…

Sounds like depression to me. But I'm not a therapist. But you should look into one and get some help figuring it out. 32 is definitely not old. 58 here and just divorced and starting over. Been in therapy past 4 years and I would be a total dumpster fire without it.

Divorced here. I don't do apps or social media. I go out to a semi-nice resturant during happy hour on a weeknight. I sit solo at the bar and have a cocktail and light dinner. I show up early for shows and chat with others waiting in line. I go to my local dive bar and just hang out for an hour. I go do my laundry at the laundromat for an hour even though I can afford not to. I go to a WFH coffee shop and work at 10:00 on a weekday morning. Go to a wine bar and talk about the wine with whoever i…

Luckily I get along well with her, but if most states are like California the petition and paperwork spells out very specific choices in types of contact. So you have actual restraining orders built into the petition you can choose if you feel like it might be necessary.

My ex (another thing I'm adjusting to saying) was unaddressed Menopausal compounded by some unaddressed mental health issues. Literally nothing I could do after a couple of years trying to help.

Your story tracks my own almost exactly. It sounds like you are taking all the right steps. Therapist explained the first month is basically PTSD. Just getting out of bed, remembering to eat, just baseline functioning because you are so disoriented and confused and sad and angry at the entire stupid senseless situation. I'm on 9 weeks since I moved out. Only about the last 5 weeks have I forced myself to follow a schedule, put down the whiskey, make myself get out of the house and around people …

Same exact situation here. I've been working with a therapist for about two years. At first to try and save marriage then 8 or 9 months ago to prepare for divorce. I moved out 2 months ago. My ex (still getting used to saying that) and I are friendly. We worked out all the financial stuff and custody stuff in advance and put it in writing, signed. But there are two big differences and I think you would be well advised to consult a divorce lawyer: I have a law degree, so I was able to go through …

This gives me hope. 52 and split up 2 months here. Really have been preparing myself to fly solo for the next 25 years

I don't know what's happening in your exact relationship but I can give you the quick version of my story which is similar. Within the span of one year, my ex asked for a divorce, refused couples counseling, kept saying her biggest fear was I wouldn't leave the house, our only daughter started going through serious mental health issues, the County got involved because her Mother was referred by daughter's therapist, I was forced to sell the company I had built for 20 years with no job prospects,…

I think you answered your own question. I'm 58 and daughter is 15. I'm divorced twice. I could never fathom ever wanting to be in a serious traditional relationship especially while my daughter is under 18. Of course I wouldn't mind if I happen to make a friend or two in the meantime. But only if it was very casual FWB type of thing. No cohabitation and for sure no blending families. Your kids are a lot younger and so are you. It sounds like you do want to find that type of relationship, but you…
