This is called "positive affirmations" and it is incredibly powerful. I did this for months and my mental state entirely shifted. I would write down "I am ..." "I can ..." "I have ..." statements in my notes app every day. For example, "I can express my interest to an attractive women respectfully", or "I accept that not everyone who I talk to will want to talk with me and that's ok because not everyone who talks to me I am interested in talking to them".

I recommend finding a good therapist and attending at least 5-6 sessions before deciding if they're good or not. If you do therapy you sort of need to open up about why you're going. The therapist will ask you why you felt like going. A good therapist can get you to open up and realize things about yourself, but sometimes it takes a lot of sessions. No one can get self therapy because you need a skilled unbiased third party who can correct your flawed cognitive patterns. Give it a try.
