My point is that in the same way that people make points about how liberal feminism fails to capture the big picture by only considering how things affect women, same goes for one-sided men's (EDIT: I changed "male" to "men") victimisation narratives and we need to consider the material conditions of both to get a broader understanding. That's one of the best posts I've seen on here. When people post dumb reactionary stuff, I feel compelled to counterbalance it with how myopic it is compared to women's actual experiences. As in, people talking as if only men's oppression exists, like a gender-swapped liberal feminism. That response is then not welcome, but rarely do they get called out in some different way. Just makes me sad about how much free discussion we've lost as the internet's become more siloed.

I kept having a post removed in which the only reference to patriarchy was women arming themselves against ISIS, one of the most anti-woman organisations out there. Trying to reason with a mod was like talking to an angry teenager and I came away from it feeling like any perspective outside an undefined "western" one was actively quashed.

My partner has a creepy interaction with a man at least twice a month if she walks around town a lot. She doesn't cross the street in that sense but calling that bigotry is pretty ignorant of women's experiences, as it includes not wanting to be stared at or feeling like they're being followed, based on past experience.

I feel like people are missing the point of the manosphere thing. Capital R red pill stuff might be somewhat niche, but hasn't it obviously seeped into the most popular online personalities, especially ones that have a crossover audience of young people. Types like Sneako or Adin Ross working hard to suck up to and reproduce Andrew Tate-style views. Fresh and Fit are pretty big. Loads of teachers report an uptick in misogyny in boys.

It is whataboutism, but the comment I was responding to is wildly selective, because it ignores the fact that women were forced into seeking providers by having limited economic rights. I'm matching the flippancy of that comment and as you point out, these gender-bases grievances are just tit-for-tat both ways if you don't dive into context (feminists are obviously also guilty of this)
