Yeah, because being with “a hot middle aged corporate divorcee” is “a lot more to life.”
/r/Divorce_Men02/02/25 03:38 PM

Corporate women will burn you 1000x worse than the so-called “trash” you mention. But you’re educated you’re better than that right, that won’t happen to you?

That’s only temporary if you can’t do that for yourself

This is all temporary, remember these kids, mature and have their own opinions. Just don’t inflame the situation, hang back and be a little patient. You’re getting there, man.

I really wish you the best of luck, but statistically these situations don’t end well. My biggest question is why do you need this woman? What does she do for you? That is so amazing and completely fixes your life? Are you not able to do this on your own? Does she help with bills? Just always be prepared always to leave, and drop it like a hot rock if it starts to act up and get bad again. I wouldn’t want my kids to be put through that completely awkward and sad situation of happening to blend f…

It’s way easier to date somebody that has no baggage and no drama, and no crazy exes

MBA? I’ve given you statistics and plenty of examples. Choose to do with it which you may.

No, there’s plenty of anecdotal evidence as well, story after story, just read the comments here and this thread. Second marriage failure rate, Step children and blended family issues are very well documented. How recent was your second marriage? As well as everyone you know and their second marriages?
/r/Divorce_Men02/02/25 03:33 AM

70% of 2nd marriages fail in divorce.

Just going by the stats of second marriage, statistics, especially with step kids, and how negative it affects kids in general, I think it’s best to be avoided completely.

This is your opportunity to settle everything out of court with mediation, rather than going in front of a judge, which can royally screw you for life. Try the mediation and try to get it done there and save yourself time and expense. The court wants you to do it all in mediation because it’s the easiest and least expensive for everyone involved.

You would think that, but it doesn’t actually pan out. She probably has a terrible dramatic story and huge amount of baggage, that’s what’s gonna weigh you down.

He’s going to divorce this moron so hard, she’s going to have to wait tables for the rest of her life 😂

Hey, I wish you the best of luck but these types of partnerships don’t typically pan out, at least according to the numbers. It sounds like you’ve really bought into her story. Just protect yourself financially and mentally. And focus on you and your kids first above anyone.

That’s not your problem whatsoever and don’t start to get sentimental here. Think about your bigger plan, is this what you want your life to be for the rest of your life?
/r/Divorce_Men01/02/25 11:28 PM

That spiral is not that bad, why are you afraid of that? You should have some fun right now, and do some things that make you feel good, not what you think is “manning up.” it doesn’t hurt to get some validation from women right now, and not from a single mom, and not with you becoming a stepdad. it’s time to live for you and find some enjoyment in life and take your life in the direction that you want to take it.

If you have kids acknowledge it for your kids sake. If you don’t have kids and you’re asking this question, dude I think it’s time to move on.

Get a lawyer, and keep your mouth shut and pretend like nothing happened and plan your next move in silence without causing all sorts of drama and nonsense. Do that for the sake of your kids, mental stability and future success in life. Buckle down and really focused on the bigger picture here, you have a lot of work ahead of you, don’t just blow everything up and nuke your life. For all you know that lady could be in on it too, and knows that her husband’s cheating with your wife and chose not …

Don’t overthink it and just have fun, and don’t really think much at all about this person other than this is some fun. That Gatekeeper book is fantastic. Dr. Shawn Smith is an authority in the space. You’re the gatekeeper, you’re the one that determines where this goes. Think about your bigger goals, have some fun and go after what you really need in life.
/r/Divorce_Men20/01/25 12:47 PM

Just relax now, don’t rush to do anything, just lay back and take the time out if you’re in the space. Don’t get riled up or upset about anything. Just take a deep breath and relax and don’t make any decisions now. Let this rest a little bit.
/r/Divorce_Men17/01/25 02:24 AM

You need a men’s focused attorney, not one of these joker attorneys. You need somebody who’s going to fight for your rights. And you should start building a case against her ASAP.

This is where it really matters, who you marry. I feel you man, I’m going through the same thing.

Also, my own dad had kids from his first marriage that turned out to be terrible. Three terrible boys. I saw this firsthand in my family. One time when I was nine years old, they stole my mom‘s station wagon and I couldn’t go deliver my newspapers. My dad cut ties with them mostly, he’d visit them, but they never came around. They all turned out really bad.

Despite the problems having my kid was the best thing that’s ever happened to me. And it’s been mostly great. And technically, I could have more kids. As much as I complain, having a happy family is still an ideal for me.

Old enough to where I could remarry someone with no kids and start a new family, I’m in great shape, I’m doing pretty well, actually the best I’ve done in the last 10 years. Divorced over 10 years. It gets harder and harder to deal with my ex, she’s become exactly the opposite of what I would ever want to marry. If I had a window into who she became when I was 25, I would’ve never gone through with the marriage.

Once your kid turns 18, and they have their own life, and they start to make their own stupid decisions, and their mom is of no support and a total narcissist, you have to decide to go and enjoy your life. I’m just about there. After trying for the last five years to be as involved as I can be, and getting the door slammed in my face 95% of the time. Once they get old enough, and they don’t reach out or initiate any contact, you have to decide whether your life is worth living somewhere else to …

They are usually dorks and weirdos. Luckily mine has scared all of them away. In a few months, it won’t matter because I will be free.

Don’t rush out and get a serious girlfriend. Don’t even get a exclusive girlfriend. Get a bunch of experience dating a lot of other women. Don’t lock yourself down with another woman. Learn how to be completely autonomous and live on your own, and find that success first. Wait a very long time before you get into a serious relationship. Let your kids grow up with you in their life. As soon as you bring another woman into your life… You’ll spend far less time with your kids. If you want to stop b…

No. I still look about the same, and I don’t date as young. The apps don’t work like they used to.

Completely go away from this situation, if you have no kids, you’ve lucked out, you’ve actually won the divorce lottery. Just get your car and drive away and start a life somewhere else away from all of this mess. For the anger, you need to get a therapist. Whether it’s a phone therapist or in person. And you need to read books on it, and you need to acknowledge this part of your behavior as a giant flaw. You need to look at anger like you look at alcoholism. You need to learn how to manage it. …

Fewer matches. You can barely get a match now. And you can have a profile where you look really good and have great pictures. It’s almost impossible to match with somebody and go on a date these days. In 2014 it was insane, it was too much. I went on hundreds of dates. Now it’s almost impossible. I have good photos

The apps are mostly garbage now. 2012-2018 were the hey day for dating apps. If I were serious about finding a GF I’d be out multiple nights a week and doing all sorts of social stuff, every week.

I live in a huge city and from 2012-2019 all I did was go on multiple dates per week. Some days I would go on 2-3 dates. I bartended part time too. I was a knucklehead. The dating apps back then were way better too

Call your lawyer and make sure you leave an urgent voicemail. Report it to the court. This is pure negligence. Boyfriend sounds like a real gem. Let me guess, mama loved him.

I needed female validation when I got divorced. I waited a year to get on the dating market. But once I did, I went crazy and I dated hundreds of women. I’ve been 10 years divorced. I had at least three long-term relationships with women that just wanted to get married. Me being in my early 40s and them in their early and mid 30s. Talk about a disaster lol. Both of my parents died in the last few years. I’ve had no desire to chase women, all I wanna do is work, play golf and play guitar.I’m not …

Don’t go to the family event if it’s too much to handle today. Is it healthier to stand in front of your family and explain all of your problems on Christmas Day? Just realize that this is totally temporary. This may be one or two Christmases without your kids. But are you a consistent dad and are you consistently in their life? You’ll be fine man, this is temporary. Get your divorce over with and get the best agreement and get on with life. Take care of yourself today and don’t get drunk :-)

That’s me! Very peaceful day, my daughter and I had Thanksgiving and an early Christmas this weekend. She got dragged off with my ex again, because my ex has this tradition of flying multiple times and seeing multiple people in different cities over Christmas. So the entire time we were married, we would fly to her stepmom‘s house, then fly to her sister‘s house on Christmas Day, then fly home. She’s been doing that entire life as a sad Step kid. I don’t think my ex has ever spent a Christmas at…

This is all temporary. You have to keep that in mind. Focus on your job and your health. Everything else is secondary right now. Focus less on your kids right now. Do you actually need them 50% of the time, why do you have to have them 50%? You need to survive, this is your survival. These kids will be happy having their dad with a long lifespan, not somebody that burns out and falls off a cliff because you have to force 50% and you’ve left nothing for yourself.. Focus on your health, your sleep…

Go outside get your car, start it up and drive away as fast as you can, and never come back. That’s literally all you need to do here.

You could easily find a job like that anywhere in Florida I was offered a chief marketing officer position four states away when my daughter was eight years old, for a company that I help found, that went from zero dollars to over $100 million and over 1000 employees. I turned that job down to stay near my daughter.
