We can debate the issue but only using this list of sources that support my perspective. That's sad... some people really don't deserve to be teachers. You have to have a passion for helping every child reach their potential, no matter what. If you don't have that drive and passion, you have no business shaping young minds like that. Grades can mean a lot to kids. I'll have to read up again on the APST, (guidelines, rules and standards for teachers in my country) but I'm pretty sure that's something that should never happen. I remember one of my high school teachers mentioned that he went as far as to not look at the name on an assignment until writing the final feedback comments. A teacher can never tell a student that they are wrong, only question their evidence. If a student came to me to tell me all about how oppressed women are in modern society, I woukd ask them to write me the essay, and show me valid sources. A teacher should never change a student's opinion. Thy should encourage then to think for themselves. A great quote, by a great teacher. "My job is not to teach you what to think. Oh, so perhaps it was when I commented on a post about a girl worried that her friends were being too submissive to their boyfriends. I responded with a explanation of the development of the adolescent brain, because I'm studying it at university, and basically explained that before 25, on average, the Prefrontal Cortex is not developed, so reasoning and logic isn't really there.
