I think its biological programming to seek out Dominant dangerous men who show that dominance around other men which in the female equals safety for her and offspring. Even though there's very little danger in modern society females still want to feel safe, this is why they shun shorter men and need someone who's taller than them. Men can also make the female feel safe with Status in society which would mean higher tribal status or some bs.

Men inflate or brag about their partner counts generally, its seen to other men as an accomplishment. Majority of females will not inflate or brag about partner counts, it makes them look used up, slutty and its mostly an unattractive trait to females and possible male partners.
