Humans insisting on objectifying each other (based on bogus social norms) is exactly the reason why we will go extinct earlier than physics command. I'm not saying that's necessarily a bad thing, fully depends on the perspective.

So you see three people make a misandrist statement and suddenly all of feminism and anything that ever came out of a woman's brain is 100% misandrist? Again: do you understand that there is a -- human spectrum -- ??

let us speak on our issues and go against the dominant narrative without canceling us as right-wing lunatics I don't do that. Can't speak for other people as I'm only myself. Humans are humans - they come in all forms. So you'll get as many takes on this as there are women (and men and people at large). It would be most sensible & productive to not shut down a good faith attempt at fighting male-harming sexism. Those who systematically do probably suffer from group polarisation & radicalisation …

Kinda generalising here. But yes, sexist tropes that are harmful to men should be fought against. Everyone can (and should) contribute to fighting these. A person capable of empathy should be able to have empathy for those who are affected by these. Studies show women score higher on empathy metrics so it's well likely there is empathy there. Though men should take no issue if women prioritise and spend more energy on fighting sexist tropes that are harmful to women. The asymmetrical nature & or…

I know what you mean. You'd have to be slightly psychopathic to not feel the weight of what it means to be human & alive in our day and age. What helps me is focusing on my part in my story. That's what I can control. I want to die knowing I tried my best and am happy with how I played the game. Even if nothing majorly changed overall and I maybe even got played. If every single one of us changes their approach on an individual level, the cumulative can make a real difference. Including who we g…

when that’s the most easy solution You think confronting and swallowing one's ego is the easiest solution for most people? (let alone having good situational awareness) I do this all the time. Well you're one of the good ones then. Move to my city, you'll be appreciated - by me, at least. So this narrative is just not true in my eyes. It's okay, we all have different experiences. We live in different places with different cultures. The world is not homogeneous. That a group of girls walked up an…

TBF, I think most problems are fixable. But the solution may often require a complete rework of societal architecture which faces massive vested interests. So, agree with you that the likelihood of complete success is not something I want to be looking into as it'll likely disappoint me. However: that doesn't mean we stop -> my comment mostly speaks of Sisyphian persistence (besides the strong ethical imperative). We must continue trying and now. We must fight this not because it is easy or poss…

I literally never read this point getting made - yet it's just so true. Condoms are obviously not going to protect male rape victims from unwanted fathering. Vasectomies are a potentially reversible option but repulsive for a lot of people. A quick search gave me these pharmaceutical options currently in the pipeline: Multiple candidates completing early safety tests: YCT-529 (non-hormonal): leading candidate ; blocks a vitamin A metabolite (RAR-alpha) essential for sperm production. Status: Suc…

I agree with you though and think the mother should lose parental rights as well in this case. Yes, rape often results in orphans. That's just another reason why we need to end rape and end it now. (Also the sex offender would likely be behind bars if the system does its current job.)

Coming for the Canadians, eh? Joke aside, I live in a big city (not in Canada ...) and elbow-checking seems to be the norm for every last person and I'm talking male, female, tall, short, young, old, whatever: it clearly has become a sport. City folks can be incredibly entitled and tourists aren't much better here. I almost feel like an idiot always making way for people. The 'heterosexual sex is about a dominant male conquering a submissive female' narrative is a social construct. Men historically held power in almost every way -> these unequal power dynamics often mirrored themselves in private relationships ; the boss & employee dynamic reoccured in households due to the manufactured economic dependence of women. This standard continues to influence how both men and women perceive appropriate sexual behaviour nowadays. This mostly thanks to cultural representa…

Many people in modern times try to detach dominance and submission from actions themselves, There is a need for this. Receiving vaginal penetration is not inherently submissive. If it was, this would make 'made to penetrate' rape claims void by default (void ab initio) as we'd have to work with the premise of the penetrated having been submissive (submission = act of accepting someone's authority, control, or greater strength / giving in).

Being lied to about something so vulnerable in such a humiliating way would likely play in my mind for a long time. Assuming you meant lying in a sustained way? (as opposed to: it's your first time together and your new partner wasn't satisfied with that first experience and is trying to have a conversation about it) There is a lot of pressure on women to 'suck it up' and 'provide their end of the transaction'. A lot of women unfortunately collapse under it and end up providing validation even i…

It would help if mainstream media would stop with it's narrative "self-fulfilled single women"/"desperate single men" and highlight som contented single men Fully agree. Maybe you're hinting at abolishing the social construct that is compulsory sexuality. Doing so would remove sexual activity from 'success metrics' (which are themselves all very ethically questionable). Also this entire post is entirely in bad faith. It's self-evident this is not the driving cause besides both men & women experience more single-dom. And carry a reminder of danger at all times? How could that improve your sense of safety if it forces you to think about the danger you're trying to forget or feel better about? Also the rate of self-inflicted accidental gun injuries is not to be ignored and a gun can easily be taken from you and turned against you. Also brings about the risk of hurting someone when using a gun was not justifiable. For similar reasons, I don't keep a lion in my backyard.

When one side is suppressed from criticism a while another side’s messaging spreads both online and offline without resistance, you don’t reduce issues. Nobody should be exempt from criticism as mentioned before. Agreed that doing so would mean we are ignoring a part of the problem. it's wise for a man to shut up, before he's branded an incel per default I feel so conflicted about that. I think this is also heavily American just like the incel phenomenon itself. There are many cultures where men don't get judgement for being vulnerable. America has built this stoic man stereotype but it doesn't help anybody. Okay, so: Do you believe humans are social creatures and can exhibit tribal behaviors even against logic? We all have instinctual impulses. Some are good, some are bad. Is it possible to act against them? Really depends on the impulse but those that involve enough time to self-reflect and analyse do provide you with a choice. If you are 'sound of mind', from there on, you have a level of moral responsibility. Though social pressure is non-negligible, would you join in on female genital mutilatio…

women have a higher in group bias someone needs to explain that certain things they do is wrong regardless Women can do that. Looking at this solely through a gendered lens is a little strange. Rejection is difficult for anyone. It can potentially impact anyone's mental health. It can potentially make anyone feel: less valuable, less worthy, less successful, less whatever they think they should be. I don't think the claim that women get rejected less in a society with fairly equal gender distribution (like most of the US) is fair. Overall Rate: Approximately 42% to 44% of U.S. adults are unpartnered. Gender Split: Wome…

I’m not sure how fair it is to snipe men from participating in a discussion that’s still technically about them. No, I'm not saying that. Men have to be part of the conversation. It's more about the way in which they do this. Men are best placed to explain the internal issues within the male group and educate each other for example. But perhaps their position for explaining the internal issues within the female group and educating women is poor. In terms of systems that’s gonna make men feel mor…

I never said it was increasing for men as a whole. If anything I said it’s increasing for some which is true but not the majority as it was in my preface. Yeah, fair. Also men now didn’t create this society so men pointing out bad practices of the people who want to get rid of patriarchy yet enforce it is very fair. Yeah, the sexist trope has done damage on all sides. All sides exhibit misogynistic beliefs & behaviour to some degree. It should be corrected for all. Accountability for misogyny must be universal to be effective. It makes sense therefore to point this out on an individual level in people who aren't heterosexual males - as well. Though heterosexual male groups pointing the finger at any other group regarding misogyny would remain politically charged because of the historical power dynamics invo…

And they may not make the same choice in every circumstance with every other person. Yeah sure. I mean people change or are indecisive about who they want to be. That's fine and my comment wasn't going against that. Nobody is expected to forever label themselves one thing. You can certainly take a different approach based on the relationship you enter one by one for as long as it is sequential / doesn't overlap without agreement. My point is that there shouldn't be an expectation. Do you mean that nobody should be monogamous? I meant: if both agreed to be exclusive, there would be an expectation for the agreement to be kept. If not kept, that's betrayal. Unless you meant that there shouldn't be secret expectations. That, I fully agree with. I don't see why you'd bring a person around to family and friends when you haven't even established a relationship yet Yeah, agreed. Brought that up because OP mentioned it.

Yeah, tiktok isn't exactly a source of wisdom, knowledge or quality data ... At best, it's silly kids trying to fit in or play the algorithm which is probably very gender debate wired. There is growing awareness of sexism and it's pervasiveness & detrimental impact but that shouldn't translate into some kind of overgeneralised gender mockery. I don’t understand who these posters are talking about. Yes, reddit and redditors do not really reflect real life it seems. There is a plethora of sensible people out there (of any gender) able to be mature and humane enough to only have children with sufficient legal protection and a true wish to commit to parenting for life. Not everyone is a narcissistic sociopath but reddit will disproportionally cover that topic probably because: people tend to be more vocal about the negative and reddit is…

I mean, people can be non-monogamous. Psychology says it's not the healthiest but people should be able to do what they want provided it doesn't hurt others. So that's totally fine for as long as both parties know about it and agree to it. And that applies also if someone is 'whatever' and just goes with the flow. Not sure what OP meant but if the expectation of monogamy is there but not honoured, that's betrayal of course and unethical. So, boils down to the two people involved: them being hone…

Okay, like that other person pointed out - you have tunnel vision on this one. In all countries that are not the US (96% of the world): stats are very asymmetrical at women's expense. This is almost the most important point. In the US (4% of the world): slightly more men report experiencing non-severe violence which is at most a push/slap (5.9m vs 5m) whereas more women report experiencing severe violence (3.9m vs 3.5m) -> and this gap is only possible because the US has guns thus 'levelling out…

Yeah, self-reflection at large is the most basic skill to have and a fair amount of people seem to be lacking it. The concept of league which is almost exclusively North American is pretty cringe & reductive but maybe a more wholesome & productive way of putting it would probably be 'know your worth and treat yourself with respect'. Nobody should be divulging private sexual/intimate information about a specific person to other people without prior consent as a matter of ethics. Goes for both genders. This seems to be a big culturally accepted thing in America. Many European countries heavily frown upon this. A lot of countries also have legal provisions for this. OP is going for a looot of generalisation here. Everybody (so all genders) should be treating themselves with respect and care. That does involve surrounding oneself with people who fit with that aim. It's also an instinct for many (not all), to some extent. Applies heavily in romantic relationships but really, any optional human interaction. I'm sure both genders are guilty of having unreasonable standards, at times too high & at times too low. This. Very well put. Research apparently claims women are statistically a bit more selfless but honestly, as a woman, I don't think that should matter. It's hugely cultural anyway. The US is known for its individualism for example. You treat someone right, you should expect to be treated right in return if you have that relationship going on. If that doesn't happen, then talk about it. If you don't see resolution as reasonably possible, move on. For strangers, you can never expect anything. It b…

The younger person (usually female) ends up cheating or leaving infidelity is very common, and many times the older partner accepts it Would you have quality stats to back this up? But as these relationships progress the power imbalance reverses. Not sure what you mean to say here. If according to your logic, the youngest is exploited at first until the exploitation reverses at the oldest's expense -> nobody truly benefits because it's a toxic and coerced relationship.

when the dust settles What dust? Are you referring to: fine particles, acid rain, black carbon, micro-plastics or something else? I definitely would love to know what the dating scene will look like once all of that has finished precipitating.

Well put. Though, with This reflects a misunderstanding of both legal standards and statistical categories. you might be overestimating what the average reddit Joe is capable of or how pure their intentions are. Plenty of people just don't understand complex stats or words. And then there are those who just don't care to be truthful or accurate.

It's simply not humane management of the situation. I feel like that's pretty clear cut and I can't see the doordash employee not getting charged for this for as long as there is enough evidence. The more debatable points are about the e…
