It’s definitely more the second part, although you weren’t quite on the right track. Higher intelligence/education correlates to higher wealth which correlates to higher health and thus optimized growth/development. Football and basketball players make up an extremely small percentage of students. My university has like 40,000 undergraduate students, and the basketball and football team combined is like 100 people (not sure about walk-ons, which are players not on scholarship).

Sad that this is what it has come to. I guess this “system” is meant to only reward Chads, who have many options and can afford to not invest much time into one girl, except when they feel like it. It’s like an “old boys club”

Very interesting analysis. I wonder how this could be applied to dating strategies. The Red Pill school of thought is to invest as little time as possible to appear less available to a woman, in hopes of increasing her desire for him (“women want what they can’t have” concept).
