But I have personally seen a huge number of people saying “why did her husband do X”, “why didn’t her husband do Y to support her”, like the overall impression a lot of us are getting is that it’s everybody’s fault but her that her kids are dead. I think my point was what is the more default “left wing” stance, like as someone who is pretty left wing I know there are always people with a variety of opinions, but being left wing the opinions you encounter in your daily life tend to be skewed more toward one direction. And to be fair, postpartum psychosis is a very serious condition and in general women’s post partum health needs more attention. I don’t support either because neither are working toward building a healthy society. Everyone deserves to have their problems heard without being ridiculed or shamed. I have identified as a feminist for a long time but I’m really struggling to continue to feel connected to that term anymore. We have to strive to not judge people by their membership to any collective group. There are lovely and amazing women out there, horrid men, and absolutely everything in between. Like instead of she went into psychosis and killed her children, it just has to be that she actually went into psychosis and was then convinced by her husband that she killed the children which he actually killed! Women are over represented in cases of violence where the perpetrator is known to her. In cases of stranger violence, men are overrepresented. My cousins friend, who is a 6’5”, burly footballer, was alone one night in the city and got jumped by a group of people. Where I work, the skew is like 75% women and 25% men. Our CEO is a woman. You can’t just cherry pick diseases or conditions like this and make meaningful comparisons. Endometriosis is definitely under funded, but it’s also far more complicated and less understood than male pattern baldness. Pharmaceutical companies like things that can make them easy money.
