This was my dad! I would come out of my room as a 10 year old in pjs - t shirt and shorts - and he would be like “where are you going in that??” And my mom and I would say “to BED???? It’s 9PM on a SCHOOL NIGHT???”

Right?? I consulted my girlfriends and my mom mostly, who is an unknowing FDS expert. Everything he said came across as so disingenuous, especially the fake sadness. He didn’t plan anything specific, just had an outline, despite me asking multiple times. And then made it like I was flaking.

I would just dump him no matter what... honestly these kinds of things don't normally get said about people unless there is some truth. Had a very similar situation with an ex, accept i didn't find out about it until months after I dumped him for being abusive and scary.
