no, i think fit healthy bodies are universally attractive for both genders, but you don't need to look like a greek god. I think men (specifically, Gym Bros) vastly overestimate the amount of muscle they need to attract the majority of women. Women want a guy who looks "fit". eg. healthy body weight, ideally some muscle tone, but you don't need to look like a fitness model or bodybuilder.

I think COVID lockdowns started a more serious and intelligent conversation about loneliness for all people. Three years later, It's still a compelling topic and men's loneliness is an important part of the discussion. Plus, having so much media buzz around guys like Andrew tate begs the question "what are figures like Tate a response TO", and part of that answer is male loneliness.

I think these are perfectly reasonable wants and asks, and honestly, reading this makes me feel very lucky because what you describe in your ideal woman sounds very much like my fiancé. I think what you describe here is actually what most well adjusted adult men want, it's just the online antics of RP/BP that skew our perception to think everyone is one extreme or another. I would argue the real "purple pill" men have no concept of all this pill bullshit and just go by their lived experience whi…

i just wanna say, i've seen this article shared over a few subs now, and the conversations and comments going on there are SO much more reasonable, reality based, and well written compared to any of the usual BS posted on PPD. What's going on here!?!? https://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/3868557-most-young-men-are-single-most-young-women-are-not/

a lot of it is just overcompensating for being fragile on the inside. not quite the same but i've ran a few ultramarathons, and so many people in that sport also romanticize the act as some mythical heroes journey about grit and perseverance. like, yes, it's hard but this isn't the bataan death march. Seems silly to humble brag about how much you suffer and have to endure when you are paying $100+ to sign up for the race. if you don't enjoy it, don't do it.

hey, one day these autistic babies will keep this subreddit alive. in all seriousness, with so many couples in my generation waiting by choice or circumstance to have kids around age 35, will we see a spike in autism diagnoses down the line?

my fiance earns more than me and i have no problem with it. we both have decent paying jobs (combined ~$300k /yr) but her field just pays more (tech). We each cover our individual spending and split living expenses (rent, bills, etc) 50/50. we plan to stay childfree and enjoy our DINK lifestyle (dual income, no kids). men complain about the "career woman" stereotype below but that seems pulled from hollywood movies. most of us work so that we can enjoy our non-work life, and don't put the career…

i think i'm just cool-guy pilled. if a woman thinks you're cool, it genuinely overcomes some of your perceived shortcomings. look at artists, musicians, or even 30 y/o guys who are still out there skateboarding. even if they aren't professionally successful at these things, if a girl thinks these things are "cool"- it can make these average in other aspects dudes stand out. this sometimes works for nerd shit too, if the girl finds that niche culture "cool". all of the average or even below avera…

i would argue it's the opposite. i think men are under more societal pressure to have somebody in their life, at least these days. I know many more happily single and financially independent women that aren't desperate for a relationship meanwhile....*gestures broadly at the men here*

the women here who stick around and actually counter some of the nonsense posted are saints. just came back to this place after a week and am eye rolling hard at some of these questions: - "this sub doesn't work because women are too emotional" - "even if ukraine wins, the men lose because women" - very specific hypothetical situations that will never happen but you must pick one of the very specific answers. thanks for the reply, it's god for me to hear the other side. It's like one time i got slightly annoyed when my fiance gave a strange guy who was chatting her up at starbucks her number. she said, "if you give a fake number, sometimes they text you right then and there to check, which can lead to more trouble. easier to give the real number and then just ignore/block" which in hindsight, made a lot of sense to me.

i understand your point, i just don't see how straight up ghosting is less likely to make a man lash out. maybe i just have enough self esteem to take "i don't see this going anywhere" as an acceptable answer and move on with my life, but just going total no contact seems like a more rude and harsh rejection in itself. I think telling someone upfront "thank you, but it's a no" shows a certain amount of mutual respect, whereas ghosting is like "wow...i'm not even worth a simple rejection text?". …

flawed source and study imo that can be prety easily explained by societal norms rather than virginity actually being good in a marriage. couples that married as virgins in the US almost always have a strong religious affiliation. eg. Mormonism. divorce is very frowned upon in these communities, especially if there are children in the picture. i think this also explains the drop off of happiness between one partner only and 2+ partners before marriage. These conservative couples may or may not b…

q4m: we hear so much about how bad dating is for average guys. Do you have any above average friends who are doing well in most aspects of their life except dating? if so, why? i have two, both in early 30s super sweet guy, tall, creative, good gov't job, owns his own house, but no dating history that i know of ever. a bit shy and possibly on the spectrum and just generally timid. i'd agree with this. in the US atleast, if she is a healthy BMI and no obvious deformities, she reads as above average. I do think men are "rating" other men as a man would, not as a woman. the old "women don't actually care about muscles" argument.

i totally agree. It's sad that no one here believes this though that beauty is in fact, in the eye of the beholder. i gave up arguing with a guy yesterday who does not think beauty is subjective whatsoever, and in cases like this above, she does not actually find him physically attractive, and she's just settling for stability. i find it pretty awesome that one person could provoke an "ew, no thank you" response to one stranger and a "what a handsome guy" response from another.

i'm a decently tall guy (6'2) who likes taller girls. dated a girl who was 5'11 or 6' for a few years and i think they have it harder. Usually, the guys who go after tall girls are tall themselves and as you noted, there are fewer of them and this same group often also likes shorter girls. I think tall girls are more willing to date men shorter than then "short" girls but they still want to keep that within an inch or two of their height. women in general do not want to feel "big" compared to th…

The men here complaining about or shaming single mothers really don't care about the kids, or the broader societal implications, it's just one of the few times lonely, inexperienced men feel like they can dunk on someone or "punch down". it almost always reads like "well look at you sex haver! if it isn't the consequences of your actions!! you should have made better moral choices!!" p.s. where is the vitriol for dead beat and absentee fathers? or are they celebrated for successfully "pumping an…

this sub really thinks women are just living this gilded existence purely because of their gender. the truth (as i see it of course) is: avg men are not that much different than avg women. They're having sex, relationships, and mostly fulfilling lives. struggles too of course. the men here with 0 relationship experience are the exception, not the rule. women don't combust at 35 nor do men become any more attractive than they were before. if you were an attractive partner before 35, you will cont…

you are dodging my point. just because certain traits, like height for men or a slim waist for women (some of which is cultural) , are considered widely attractive, doesn't mean individual thresholds for attraction are extremely subjective. There are people many would consider attractive that i feel no genuine sexual interest towards and vice versa. i don't know why people here are so dedicated to attraction being set in stone when the reality is actually much more malleable and encouraging.

example to illustrate what i already said: two men in a bar fight: not your business, not worth dying over. man attacking innocent woman on the street and you are the only one around: A man who does nothing is worthy of shame for not trying to help. are these the only two scenarios that could play out? of course not, but i would rather live in a society where people think beyond their own self preservation when faced with a scary situation.

You did the right thing. call me old fashioned, but i think the whole "women and children first" policy is just fine, and if that really makes you angry as a man, maybe you are lacking a bit of moral fiber. I'm not saying we need to go out of our way to be some valiant hero, or insert ourselves in other people's business, but if you're in a situation where action is required, and you have the ability to help, you're probably a coward and an asshole if your first thought is about gender disparity…

you have a very narrow view of weddings. for most not hyper-religious people getting married in the 21st century, it's just a celebration of love and a party with their friends plus of course, the legally binding part. you can wear a white dress but drop the god part entirely. you can exchange rings but not last names it really is yours to design and just because you are hung up on the history of the names bit, it has no bearing on a marriage being "legit" or not.

yeah everybody understands and agrees with this concept, but where PPD takes it in the wrong direction is treating "attractive" as some absolute set of characteristics that aren't subjective. Just because you see a hot girl with an "average" guy doesn't mean he's rich or dark triad or whatever theory you use to feel better about yourself. She may find him genuinely attractive.

there is a fine line between having fun on social media and having "main character syndrome" I'm plenty guilty of posting stories etc if i do something interesting or have something that i want to share, but so many people nowadays care more about the appearance of their life, than how they are actually living their life. no comment on the asian part, but as a man entering year 5 of a great relationship, i would say words of affirmation matter the most to me. gestures, or gifts are nice and all that but can sometimes feel transactional. Just hearing honest positive reinforcement matters the most to me. It can just be "today was really nice, i'm so glad we got to spend it together". i can be a bit of an anxious person or overthinker, so words, more than gestures help me feel loved and happy about the relationship.

i'm not sure what point you're trying to prove. i think every well adjusted adult would say the guy with a good job has more status and value in society. If you really think most people assign more value to the broke womanizer, that's a reflection of your own worldview, not society at large.

i've never seen society or individuals specifically shame lonely virgin men or treat them like garbage. i do however see people rightfully calling out hateful and misogynistic men who blame women for the problems of their own creation. thank you, it seems no one points out how this problem feeds on itself. There have always been young sexless men who have felt on the "outside" of society. Some of them would grow out of this , and naturally some wouldn't. Now i feel there is a risk of any angsty young man trying to figure out the world getting sucked into this bullshit at the first experience of rejection. It really becomes a cult for these guys and it's hard to "deprogram". A liberated society isn't the problem here....

the implied solution seems to be "return to a 'traditional' society, where women have to pick a partner to survive, whether the is any real romantic interest or not. Then men's 'needs' will be met and there will be no looming incel rebellion" so basically some form of sexual slavery or forced marriage. I hope we can all agree the current reality is a better alternative.

i'm more worried about the degeneracy stemming from people who aren't having sex, not those who are having casual sex. No one elevates fuckboys more, and puts down "beta" dudes more than blackpillers online, which this post screams of. They reduce everyones intrinsic value to how much or how little sex they are having. I think the system is working better than it was 60 years ago. Sadly, it's not perfect, and good people deserving of love and partnership fall through the cracks, but i would argu…

This sounds like a medical condition not a "girls can sense your energy" problem. You could hit it off great with a girl, have attraction and good chemistry, but if she was unable to have or enjoy sex, learning this would be a dealbreaker for most guys. I do understand the point you're trying to make, that having sexual competence does matter to women, not just looks, but i would argue this rings true for both genders. I hope you are seeking medical help for your hormone issues.

not to sound callous, but this sounds like a "you" problem, not a women problem.

yeah guys who point to leo as some ideal are usually weirdos. honestly, it sounds exhausting to me. How much does an aging movie start have to talk about with a fame thirsty 22 year old? I bet that gets old fast. Regardless of fame or status, i would prefer an age appropriate partner with a deep connection over his situation.

of course, and my frustration comes from my belief that these red/black pill spaces are extremely toxic echo chambers that pull these already suffering men even farther away from growth, happiness, and healthy connection. i too was an insecure young man 15 years ago, and i'm grateful i was not aware of these online communities.

Thanks for the comment. Your last point is says a lot. If my comment seems hostile towards this subreddit, it's because i really do worry it's leading people deeper into the rabbit hole of this pill bullshit which is the wrong direction they should be headed. Some of the questions here are genuine, but the answers are the blind leading the blind.

no apology needed. re-reading my original comment, i did not explain the "autism" bit and i can see how it may come off as insulting to some. I think people over use the word "autistic" online nowadays, but in this case, i meant it literally. There is a ton of nuance and unspoken rules to follow in modern dating and it's no surprise someone with autism would struggle with that. But many here point outward as the source of their struggles rather than looking inward.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/02/23 04:51 PM

i did not use "autism" in jest or as an insuult, more speaking to the very clear lack of understanding around basic human interaction and relationships that many posters here do not seem to understand. It does make me wonder if "neurodivergence" is behind some of the questions and comments here. I personally know a few people on the spectrum. One of them actually does great in dating, but he is the exception, not the rule in my experience.

read my comment again, i'm speaking only on the content of this subreddit, not all people struggling with dating. I know several guys irl that are struggling with dating but i believe they can and will be a good partner one day. but for the guys here talking about "i'm afraid to betabuxx just to get a 7/10 single mom who already had her slut phase"- you can't tell me the internet pill communities have not polluted their minds which is making their already hard dating life now virtually impossibl…

Autism and online pill-propaganda are the explanation to 90% of the posts here. Not society, or femenism, or dating apps, or gender differences. This is not to say those things aren't having some effect on all of us, but so many of the posts here are just so out of touch with reality. I don't shame young men for having a tough time with relationships, but for alot of the posters here, it's pretty obvious that they themselves, not society are what's holding them back.

i'm talking about real life, face to face interactions, not trolling dummies on tinder with fake pictures. Of course hot people, men and women, do well on dating apps. that's news to nobody, but when it comes to actually having and maintaining a relationship, don't underestimate the power of being a genuinely likeable person.

gang gang. was thinking about this sub last night when , believe it or not, the women actually do not like the tall hot guy when it's revealed he is a player and a douchebag.

hotly debated subject on this sub, but an average guy who is naturally likeable, funny, and down to earth will do better than a gym maxxed weirdo who has polluted his personality with one pill or another.

well said. I'm sure there are people who are hung up on one person, and comparing new partners to them, but is likely a reflection of their own insecurities being projected onto a partner. Not something you can control.

There are a lot of horrible questions on this sub but this one might have some basis in reality. I don't know that "alpha" has a ton to do with it, but it's not unusual for people to compare their current partner to things they've liked in past partners. That being said, you probably aren't being measured and judged for every little thing you do or have. Different, does not always mean better or worse worse. you might look at her ex and go wow, he had x,y,z that i don't have, but some of these t…

another common terminally online fantasy, usually by people with zero relationship experience. Women aren't all settling for mediocre guys in their 30s. usually, like most adults do, they grow and mature, and are looking for an actual PARTNER in life, not just someone nice to look at. that's normal and good. men do this too. Don't worry guys, if you were a weird asshole in your 20s, and are commenting about "women getting out of their slut phase and then looking to settle down", you're probably …

i remember discovering red pill stuff when i was 21 in 2013 and even back then it was very much "women are dumb, and easy to manipulate, here's how to convince them to fuck you". maybe you've been in that sphere longer but from my casual understanding, it's been pretty misogynistic from quite some time.

i'm no expert and i've never bought into this PUA stuff but as an outsider i can say.... Alot of this stuff caters to men who are not successful in relationships and dating for a variety of reasons. It's always easier to see yourself as a victim and to blame someone or something else for your problems. Often, we see men blaming modern western society and the loss of "traditional values" as a reason for their struggles. Conservatives, by definition, long for these "traditional values" examples: -…

people are attracted to strength and perseverance in the face of trauma, not trauma itself. it goes both ways. kids are always baggage. you think women see a single guy with kids and swoon? gtfo. no one wants a deadbeat dad, but if a guy is a great father, that may work in his favor if a woman is looking for a stable, responsible guy. woman don't want a man whore. someone with some experience who knows what they're doing, yes, but nobody wants to hear their partner has a super high bodycount. al…

there is no sense talking to these people. Their perception of how relationships work is based almost entirely on niche internet echo chambers full of other people who ALSO know very little about how adult relationships work. Not sure why so many guys here are hung up on woman being single mothers and then finding happiness but i truly feel sorry for them. A lot of these "cucked" step-dads are probably happier than most here ever will be.
