5 Get wisdom; get insight; do not forget, and do not turn away from the words of my mouth.
Proverbs 4:5-6 (ESV)
6 Do not forsake her,* and she will keep you; love her, and she will guard you.
* Here, wisdom is poetically personified as a feminine entity. This does not refer to a woman.
Overview
In the Exposition of this month’s theme, A Failure of Knowledge Transference was identified as one type of problem with The Red Pill.
There are six main areas of knowledge transference that have been ineffective.
- Models are misappropriated.
- Models are misinterpreted.
- Models are misunderstood.
- Models are misapplied.
- The Practical Application is Difficult, Elusive, Insurmountable, or Unacceptable
- The Absence of Actionable Knowledge
This essay will cover the second.
Foundational reading includes the basics of modelling and 9 Types of Red Pill Models.
Intro
It is unreasonable to expect that the whole of human behavior can be apprehended through Red Pill models. However, it is imperative that men gain enough familiarity with the archetypes, models, and templates of human behavior so as to be able to recognize instances IRL that correlate to common patterns and thereby discern any noteworthy differences — differences which define the specific context and individuals in question as deviations from the norm, however great or small. Then one may be able to judge more accurately the character of others and the true nature of a situation.
That said, the overall purpose and value of taking the Red Pill is in adding knowledge to wisdom and enhancing one’s discernment.
For example, answers to important questions such as the following may be more fairly assessed.
- What is my purpose in life as a man? What is my proper masculine role? What are my responsibilities?
- What is the value of chastity / virginity? If I find a young woman who is a virgin, then how rare is that? What is the meaning, significance, and value of that?
- What is the nature of attraction? If a young woman is giving me a steady stream of IOIs, then what does that mean, and how should I respond?
- How can I assess the strength of my relationship with a woman? How rare is this type of relationship? How much should I value it? How should I consider this relationship in terms of future plans?
- Should I get married or not? What are the challenges and pitfalls that I will face? How can I prepare for this?
- What types of challenges and pressures are my sons and daughters facing? What is holding them back from finding contentment and having a more fulfilling life? How can I help them navigate through life?
These are very real and very important questions that the majority of people face throughout life. For years, men have reported that taking the Red Pill has brought them to face reality (hence the parable of The Matrix) and has allowed them to pull themselves and their lives together, for better or for worse.
The Fundamental Problem with Modelling
Devising a theoretical model necessarily requires inductive reasoning. The model that is produced is necessarily a simplified representation of aggregate data, as described earlier.
The fundamental problem with predictive modeling is that, in general, models are fabricated using inductive reasoning, and then are often applied to real-world scenarios using deductive reasoning.
Inductive Reasoning: Broad generalizations or principles are derived from a body of observations. The justification of inductive reasoning is often either circular or question-begging. (See Hume’s Problem of Induction.)
Deductive Reasoning: A conclusion is based on the concordance of multiple premises that are generally assumed to be true. The validity of the conclusion relies heavily upon the initial premises being correct.
Both of these methods are subject to error and the error is magnified when combined. This is the primary shortcoming of models in general.
The Fallacy of the Blue Pill
This was the big fallacy of the Blue Pill. Men were presented with false and/or misleading postulates under the guise of ‘relationship advice’, such as…
- “Be yourself.”
- “Be chivalrous.”
- “Men are toxic.”
- “Give a woman flowers.”
- “Women like nice guys.”
- “Men and women are ‘equal’.”
- “You need to ‘respect’ women.”
- “Men need women to civilize them.”
- “You need to speak her love language.”
- “You’ll be ‘happy’ once you’re married.”
- “Man up and marry that
slorepoor girl.” - “(Female) Virginity isn’t THAT important.”
- “Just WAIT. The RIGHT ONE will appear at the right time.”
- “Women are more spiritual / virtuous / etc. than men are.”
- “Better communication will solve your relationship problems.”
- “You need to be more alpha / forgiving / ‘godly’ / understanding / (fill in the blank) / etc. and your relationship will improve.”
- And many others.
Men molded their thoughts and behaviors around these flubs of fantasy according to deductive reasoning, and then used inductive reasoning to slowly and painfully discover that women did not act or respond in the ways that were expected.
IOW, the Blue Pill reasoning was bass ackward.
Only after taking the Red Pill did men discover that these postulates were a mass gynocentric consortium of lies and Sh!t Tests designed to keep the mushrooms in the sh!t dark and keep them working on the farm.
But these problems are not unique to the Blue Pill. The Red Pill is much MUCH better, mainly because the inductive procedures come first, leading to greater understanding. However, there are still a multitude of ways and many cases in which the inductive and deductive reasoning processes associated with Red Pill modeling veers from reality and truth.
3 Misinterpretations of the Red Pill
Here, I’ll point out three of what I feel are the most egregious misinterpretations of Red Pill lore: (1) Evo Psych models, (2) a lack of self-awareness caused by a hyperfocus on chicks, and (3) hidden motivations. I may cover some of the more minor bloopers in future posts as they come to my attention.
Misinterpretation 1 — Evo Psych Models
The Evo Psych lens is a modeling structure that has been extensively developed and is more predictive than not, but it should be noted that it only concerns the fleshly nature — “a world without God”, as Adam Piggott recently noted — and that working with this model comes at the cost of sacrificing other considerations.
For example, Rollo Tomassi’s contributions are overwhelmingly of the Evo Psych variety. The primary weakness of Rollo’s work is that he refuses to address either the metaphysical aspects or the moral aspects of these models. However, this simplification is necessary in order to devise these models.
The Fundamental Problem with Modelling entails that if one or more premises are incorrect, or pertinent information has been omitted, then the argument may be invalid and/or unsound. So although Rollo’s Evo Psych models are applicable for the secular SMP, they are inadequate for Christian men, because Christian men are concerned with the spiritual considerations as well as the carnal. Nevertheless, these models have value because they accurately portray the fleshly nature of men and women. It also contributes an extensive body of knowledge about what the Bible refers to as “the flesh”.
Misinterpretation 2 — Hyperfocus on Chix and the Lack of Self-Awareness
In most online men’s communities, there is a pronounced male-centric perspective that assumes male prerogatives. This has led to the formation of Red Pill models that are predominantly focused on women’s behaviors and which fail to examine men’s behaviors as closely as the obstacles posed to the male objectives — the women themselves. Stated more simply, men’s preoccupation with p00n is a blinding obsession that must be dealt with before any further progress can be made in overcoming the obstacles of life. It is frankly difficult for testosterone-befuddled men to keep a clear head in the presence of pheromones.
All in all, important information about the masculine nature is assumed without much scrutiny (e.g. male altruism, male propensity to positivism, male hyperagency, inefficacious action, poor internal locus of control, The Curse of Adam (lack of agency, laziness), listening sincerely to women, expecting emotional honesty, lust, pedestalization, etc.), while the value of one masculine purpose in particular (i.e. pounding p00n) is elevated to the status of an idol. This amounts to a willful ignorance of the other important information and skews the associated deductive reasoning towards a concentration on the flesh. Moreover, important information about the self is ignored or underestimated and thereby scrambles the rational process.
Misinterpretation 3 — Hidden Motivations
Overall, the outstanding problem with modeling, I believe, is that many men are fully expecting a model of GOD with 100% accuracy so that they can disassemble reality (i.e. the SMP) and reverse-engineer it for their own purposes (e.g. avoid suffering, get laid, reduce costs of investment, and so on).
I regret bearing this unpropitious news, but God doesn’t work that way. Men who are expecting Red Pill models to deliver this kind of knowledge will be sorely disappointed. It will never happen. Furthermore, if you make a model (or anything else) into an idol, God will intentionally hide the truth from your awareness to prevent you from interfering in His work.
Remember, models are tools for increasing understanding and communication. Nothing more, nothing less, as Morpheus would say.
