Interesting topic here since I know the end goal of dating for most of us on here is marriage....

Do you believe in giving up your last name and changing it to your husbands or do you think this culturally misogynistic as the tradition itself came from a bride’s father transferring “property” (the bride) to his husband?

I don’t think it’s cute. I think it’s gross. I love my last name, and no man no matter how good he is to me deserves my identity.

And in my experience, telling guys that you refuse to give up your last name for them makes most of them FURIOUS. A guy I was dating actually dumped me for this reason a couple of years back, because I said I wouldn’t ever give up my last name.

Am I wrong for feeling this strongly about keeping my name?
