(english isn't my first language, apologies in advance) I made the difficult decision of cutting cords with the narc LVM who'd been mooching off my empathy, dignity and energy for the longest year, and ever since the last 2 months of no contact I've been working on myself and focusing on my growth - treating myself to dinner dates, being ruthless with my standards, keeping in shape, checking off my reading list, meditating and journaling.

A week back I heard through a mutual friend about the same LVM (I refuse to refer to him as MY anything) who's already getting serious with a new woman, less than a month of us breaking up - and to my surprise all I did was feel a massive wave of relief! The person I used to be few months back would've been seething with bitterness and envy, and internalizing all of it as my inherent lack of worth. I'd ruminate and berate myself for not being pretty or good enough for not being doted on the same way in our relationship.

But now I see it for what it is : I was the one who was settling. I'm still the goddarned prize, and if a man doesn't see it, BOY BYE. I live and wing through life for my freaaaaking self.

I feel sorry for the lady though - it's only a matter of time before the lovebombing wears off and she's stuck in the same miserable pit. Or maybe he really has come around to change his ways. If he has, well then, good for them. Indifference sure does feel nice.
