I feel like this story captures my general experience with men. The majority of men are shit (aka OP’s friend and all their friends), but there is usually one guy who is trying to do good and right.

Another example, at one of my old workplaces the president had a closed door meetings with all the VPs in his office. At some point, because they’re all men, they started talking vulgarly of asian women. They didn’t think anyone heard because the door was closed. But walls are thin and I heard it. All gross except one VP who tried to stop it and say let’s not do this.

The main thing is that even when they don’t think women are watching, these men still stand up for what is right. But obviously trash men pretend in front of women so it’s hard to tell which ones are the actually good ones versus not. And because I’m a woman... I don’t really have the opportunity of “exposure” like this very often.

Are there ways to tell if a man is genuinely that type? I suspect it’s only about 10-20% of men, at least in my circles, that are good like this.
