Please learn from my mistake and run at the first sign of cheapness.
My soon to be ex husband is a notorious cheapskate and it is one of the main reasons our marriage is ending.
Yes, this is 2020 and I can and do provide for myself. I have a good job and an MBA so I don’t need a man to provide for me, I want him to.
Story time:
We met in college so I naively went along with his cheapness. The night I met him he had two drinks in his hand so he only would have to tip the bartender once (red flag). He “asked me on a date” where he took me to HARDEES (rofl) and insisted I pay for myself. For a $5 hamburger. Our next date- he worked at a sandwich place where he’d get an employee discount, so he “took me there” (lucky me) and INSISTED ON SPLITTING A SANDWICH. Ladies-he couldn’t even spring for two sandwiches when he got a 50% discount.
Red flags galore. But did I leave? Nooooo. I stayed 10 years. Learn from my mistakes. This cheapness will seep into every pore of your relationship. He would tip service people as little as possible. He bought me an engagement ring off the internet in the wrong size for $150 and his uncle planned and paid for the dinner he “proposed” at. How romantic. We had an insanely cheap wedding. His parents paid for our honeymoon which was all inclusive.
We lived in the cheapest apartment we could find in a safe neighborhood where there was no dishwasher, washer or dryer, air conditioning and the windows didn’t even open. I insisted we move after 4 years so we bought a fixer upper house and I never heard the end of it any time something needed repaired, which of course I’d always have to call and schedule because he was “too nervous”.
The stinginess will translate to everything else, including sex. I stopped having sex completely because he never even tried to give me an orgasm in 10 years. His idea of “going down on me” was to lick the outside area 3 times. What a turn on lmao.
The cheapness will absolutely set the standard for how he treats you, your children and your household. Don’t be like me and stay 10 years, run when you see him holding 2 drinks at the bar so he can avoid tipping some poor bartender lmao.
there doesn't seem to be anything here
