"Freedom does not come automatically; it is achieved. And it is not gained in a single bound; it must be achieved each day."
-Rollo May, "Man's Search for Himself" (read this quote in the book, The E Myth by Michael E. Gerber)
Like many of you, I've been through the wringer this year. Broke off a long term relationship. Had a younger cousin pass. One of my best friends passed. Had to put my dog down. I am in a lot of financial debt because of this relationship and lack of boundaries on my part. It seemed like it was non-stop bad shit, and it was. It wasn't until I was single did I discover just how off balance that relationship kept me.
Energetically, I was wiped out, to the point where I would need to nap at lunch time. I had anxiety. I would wake up dozens of times at night. Through diet, exercise, and taking care of myself I finally turn that corner. I learned that my ex was a narcissist. I knew there was something off with her, but I didn't have the word for it. Understanding that helped me through the healing process.
Now for the good.
I have a ton of energy now for the things I want to do. I take care of myself. I say NO to things and people. I have a zero-tolerance for bullshit. Everyday I get a little more out of debt. I choose to make better financial decisions. I choose to take one more step towards personal freedom. I choose to do things that make me happy. I cook more. I relax more. I have more hobbies AND the time to pursue them.
For those of you who feel like they are drowning and struggling to stay afloat, keep pressing forward. Do whatever you need to do to get through it. Take care of you. Take a mental health day from work. Treat yourself better. Do things that make you happy. Reconnect with nature, read, cook, rediscover hobbies, exercise, learn something new.
The peace you will experience will be like reconnecting with an old familiar friend and you will wonder how you could have ever given it up.
We are all championing your success.
Choose yourself!
