Simps gonna simp

I have developed feelings for a girl I work with.

The feelings started months ago and she is aware about how I feel. Sometimes I leave sticky notes on her desk telling her that she "looks pretty today", etc. We joke around and playfully make fun of each other at work and keep each other laughing. We also message each other every day. We have texted every day for over a month now. Now for the confusing part... I have asked her to hang out a couple of times during this period. Each time she has an excuse or another reason why she cannot hang out, but the relationship between us remains unchanged.

Some back story... She just ended things with her boyfriend of 5 years about 3 months ago. It was not until this past weekend that she told me that she never had closure with him and she is confused and is not sure what she wants right now. I totally understand that. 5 years is a long time.

What do I do at this point? The way she acts around me makes me feel like I have a chance with her, but when I try to do something with her outside of work I get shut down. Also, with Christmas right around the corner, do I get her a little gift?
