I'm not a professional musician but I've been playing the guitar for a long time and every now and then I play some gigs with my band. A while ago one of my female colleagues learned about this and asked me if I could help her buy an acoustic guitar. She is an English expat in her 50s and has been living in my country for a couple of years.

Because I was a nice guy I said I could help her. Anyways, we met the following weekend, visited some music stores and tried out some guitars and in the end we were able to find a good-looking one with a really nice tone.

She was really happy and she wanted to get her photo taken with the guitar and me. The guy in the store took the photo with her phone and the first thing she said when she looked at it was "Omg, I always thought you were really short..."

The reality is I'm 5'8 and she's 4'11. And never before had I looked at her and judged her because of her height. She was just a friendly colleague to me. But obviously every time she looked at me she saw me as this little guy! For fuck's sake.
