I have so many questions about this ad!!! Mainly, why??? Why a runaway bride? What kind of message is it supposed to send?

I interpret it as being your own Prince Charming. When dating without purpose wasn't very common, women were sold the idea that someone will come along and break their life's monotony. Now most women have had a couple of relationships and experienced the post honeymoon phase where everyone is solely responsible for their own happiness & wellbeing. The same kind of women that brought into the idea that someone somewhere will come along and save them from their lives are the same kind of women buying into this idea that running away from the altar is "empowering" and will automatically make their lives less empty. Does that make sense? Its the same ad from back in the day without the guy...

Feminism's biggest lie is that it empowers women. God forbid, we actually stop life happening to us right up until the point of taking sacred vows. When this behavior is used as a selling tactic, it's romanticizing the idea of disappointing everyone in your lives. Gross.

So in one part I feel like... great. She didn't get married to someone who would not make her happy. That can be a good thing sometimes. The other side of me is like what a douche! She went for the bad boy of course who will probably dump her ass when she gets old and crusty.

Don't get me wrong, sometimes you can have successful relationships that are full of adventure if you find someone like that. But this dude knew she was getting married and picked her up anyways. So he isn't the greatest of men ANYWAYS!

Now how the fuck does that apply to perfume... or gum was the other one right?

So really I find that my life from the outside looking in boring. We work. We come home. We cook. We watch tv or read. Go to bed. Repeat 5-6 times a week. But from the inside of our relationship we have laughter, love, excitement, passion, and adventure.

Example from outside looking in:

Woke up at 530 am. Gave my boyfriend his gift for v-day. Went to yoga. Will see him tonight.

Example from inside:

Woke up at 530. Snuggled. Dumped 15 packages of gummies onto him and we laughed hysterically because inside joke between us. He chivilrously drove me to yoga and sent me an amazing text that was the sweetest thing ever. Right now I am sooooo excited for seeing him tonight and not even sure if we are going out or staying home but the possibilities are endless.

See I am a glass half full kind of gal. That boring story that is cliche really isn't in my relationship. You take everything and look at it with love and kindness and you embrace it. You don't dump your man for what you think might be excitement. You keep him for it and nurture it.

I 100% agree that no one should be marrying someone they aren't happy with. Kind people don't break their dad's hearts doing it. In front of everyone he would hope to share his little girl's happiness with.

So he isn't the greatest of men ANYWAYS!

Lol, right? Her picker is broken.

I think your relationship sounds lovely. Even in relationships where you are jumping out of planes and scuba diving in the same week, the in between moments need to be nurtured with laughter, love, excitement, passion and adventure like you said.

but the possibilities are endless.

Aww heartmelt

If someone complains about having a boring relationship, I usually ask them if they think their SO is thinking the same ;) Like, do something about it already and stop bothering me!

I agree so much with this, you can totally have excitement and passion within a relationship, and keeping seeking novelty for excitement is not the healthiest way of finding it.

I get fed up with the classic good boy=boring, bad boy=exciting love triangle in media, it's like "look at the shiny romance, ignore the reality of life". Escapism is ok, but it's not real!

Sooo.. they're trying to say when you wear their perfume you smell like a douchebag? OK...

Hah! That's really good

As someone who's planned a wedding, and I'm sure most of us here have too, this just makes me so irritated!! SO MUCH PLANNING AND EFFORT goes into a wedding, just to run away at the last second?! Ugh!
