On Confidence

Confidence is a really abstract thing that can manifest in a lot of ways. Often when people speak of confidence they are actually referring to self-esteem, charisma, or dominance. This is especially the case for women describing their ideal man as "confident" what they really mean is a leader or of high social value. The worst is when girls project what they are attracted to and think the same will work for them. This usually results in them acting with all of these inherently masculine traits, and they come off as overbearing. To this day I have yet to hear a convincing definition of "confidence" that cannot be replaced by any of the three traits I listed. It really is a tricky word, it is used so much but means so little.

All very good points OP. I'm finally at a point where I'm doing most of these naturally.

The term 'Confidence' has always irked me in that people throw it around like it's a fucking light switch. "Just be more confident!"

Telling someone to 'be more confident' is like telling someone to 'be more in shape'. If anything, I've found building confidence is actually MORE difficult than building muscle.

Unlike weight lifting there's really no solid game plan to building up confidence. We all do it in our own way and nobody can give you the answer. It's also very much a process, and like wight lifting, it' something you're going to have to work on day by day and you might not see any results for a good few months.

Anyway, that was just kinda my side rant. The list you've got is a pretty good checklist for people to gauge their progress.

"Confidence" can be rephrased as "how certain one is that a given action will produce a desired result."
