TL;DR Is value added inauthentically 'right'?
Of all the things that I have had my eyes opened to by TRP, it is the nature of value, and needing to be a source of it to others in order to wield power and influence. This is also my weakest area.
I came to TRP in much of the same fashion as the rest of us, needing something to explain why things went "wrong". (Coincidentally, I was actually searching for stuff on the actual red pill from the movie, and well, when the student is ready the teacher will appear). A year and a half of mostly lurking, absorbing, reading the sidebar, all the basics, and the pill went down fine. No anger phase, no nothing. Just, "Oh, yeah, this does explain it all more succinctly".
I've done my best to internalize the teachings, but I would still be the quintessential armchair TRP recovering beta. The spirit of TRP (as I understand it) is ruthlessly individual, constantly aware of how society attempts to subjugate the BP, and focused on Authentic Self Improvement. All of which, were values, that for varying lengths of time, I have held prior to TRP. Herein lies my question.
I am a philosopher at heart, it is my great passion. Sitting in an armchair, with other individuals who can have a heated intelligent discussion about heavy topics, without anyone getting butt hurt. That sounds like an above average Friday night for me. Consuming ideas and not producing anything that I can leverage for my goals, desires, and wants. Or even going to a dance show, getting drunk, and just letting loose. Consume, consume, consume.
I know this does nothing to increase my SMV. This does not have me approaching, I have no plates I'm spinning, I have Zero results. I know it does not matter how well I agree with the teachings of TRP, or how well I understand them, because I am not producing anything from my labor, because I am not laboring. Sure, I've been lifting for 3 years, martial arts now for a couple months (in before 'lift more') but those are very private for me. I'm not at the gym to talk, my music is up and I am praying with my iron. I don't see it as adding to my skills as a man anymore, in the sense that I've plateaued in my adding of skills.
Yet, I have no innate desire broaden. Woodworking, car repair, writing, art, music... All hobbies that produce something at the end. I've seen them lauded from on high within the community. I could invests in these things, probably get decent at them. In some way I've dabbled in all the ones listed before. And they bored me out of my fucking skull.
My question is this, should I just start doing these hobbies again (or others similar) because of what they could add to my value that I can bring to the table with others, if they are not authentically part of who I am? I'm at a loss for what the next step is.
