As said in the title I'm a complete newbie.

There's this girl at my college that found out I fancy her because her friend caught me walking by and doing the double look + jaw drop + wide eyed + head tilt combo. The girl also finds me good looking based on other things that happened. Well she created 2 blatant opportunities for me to approach her one of which was after she caught me staring at her... I didn't approach either time (due to some serious fucking butterflies - like my neck would fill up and shit) but then one day I did approach her when she was walking with a friend.

I asked can I talk to you for a minute? She responded with "about what?" and honestly sounded kind of bitter like she had an attitude. I said "I want to meet you" and she was like oh and her voice got all high pitched and soft and told me her name. When she said "about what?" in a bitter voice/tone is that an example of a shit test? She kind of acted like she had no clue as to why I approached her until I literally said "I want to meet you". Don't girls know they are being hit on when a guy randomly approaches them for no reason? I think she was either surprised I was still interested or it was a shit test because her friend turned away as soon as I walked up so she knew what was going on. Lastly, do you think approaching a girl when she is with a friend can actually be good because it shows an even stronger frame? I still think getting her alone is better but I'm curious.
