Got my T levels checked recently, and can't help but wonder if the endocrinologist I'm seeing doesn't know what he's talking about. I had one test in December at roughly ~450 total T, then another last week at 370. DHEA-S was elevated both times at ~800 and ~600 respectively. While my T levels are in the "normal" range, the doc himself admitted that they were a bit low for a healthy male of my age (31). Doing some web research, those T-levels are about average for a 60 year old!

Doc thinks that the issue is with the whey protein I consume a few times per week, and thinks that it may have DHEA in it which is boosting those levels artificially and potentially affecting T levels. I think it's BS quite frankly. The 2nd test was done after not having the supplement for 2 weeks. I also purchased a highly rated protein that was rated by labdoor.com. Ingredients are basically whey protein isolate and nothing else... so not sure why he thinks it might have DHEA in it.

He wants me to continue abstaining from the protein for another month then T levels and DHEA checked again. I really don't think the protein is the issue. Have any of you had a similar experience with lower T levels and elevated DHEA? Trying to figure out what's going on and the doc's explanation seems half-assed at best.
