So I really want to start reading but I'm in the situation a lot of people find themselves in with working out. They dont want to actually work out, they just want the results.

Well I dont actually seem to enjoy reading but I want the benefits. I'll go over a few problems I have.

My main problem is with actually reading. I dont know what it is but for some reason I'll read a paragraph and not even understood it. Like I could read a page and at the end if someone asked me what was actually written I wouldn't have a clue.

Weirdly enough I never have this problem on the internet reading articles or posts on reddit. But this is an ongoing problem with most books I try to read.

Has anyone eased themselves into reading and found success?

I'm trying to go from nothing to reading really big books with no pictures, just text. should I find get into the habit of reading something simple for 30 minutes before bed? Like maybe a mens fitness magazine?

The other problem I have is actually doing it. I say I'll get into bed and start reading, then before I know it another 2 hours has passed and I'm still reading on reddit. And I'll hamster myself and say "well thats still reading".

I want to be able to really take a book, read it and learn. I want to walk away being better off for reading, UNDERSTANDING, and INTERNALIZING the book.

Any advice welcomed
