Congratulations! 😊 I got married on Thursday! I don’t feel much different but I feel an obligation to be different. A better version of myself. It’s a renewed sense of purpose indeed.

I've been married for 6 months, so this is from a newlywed's perspective.

Don't be surprised or afraid if you have blues the week after your wedding or honeymoon. It is a culmination of a lot of feelings, realizing your life will never be the same, dropping off the dopamine high that was caused by your ceremony/honeymoon, etc. Just ride it out because it will pass.
Try to change your name for everything (bills, work, insurance, licenses, social security, banking) asap, or else you will procrastinate for months and be in a weird place where your work, dentist, and post office are calling you two different names, lol.
If you used to draw a lot of male attention before, get used to most men seeing your ring, and being extra careful to not overstep boundaries. This hit my ego a little bit, but I'm actually more happy now that I can speak freely to colleagues, friends, clients, etc., without them hitting on me. It also opened my eyes to see how much our culture actually does respect marriage, or appears to.
Get ready to bring up the word "husband" in conversation a lot. "Oh yeah, my husband likes that too/said this/did that/went there..." I'm sure I annoy my coworkers at this point, but they are too sweet to say anything.
Decide early that you two want to either have a joint bank account, or have separate accounts with access to one another's accounts. Imo, your money should be the household's funds, not just "his" or "mine."
Be prepared to get annoyed by little things that you were unfazed by before, especially if you haven't lived together previously.

Don't forgot that just because you're married doesn't mean you have to sacrifice your wants, needs and dreams too, and your husband should support you in achieving them
